Tara A. Branscom
Tara focuses her practice on representing companies and individuals in a broad range of trademark/intellectual property, technology and business matters, as well as financial institutions with regulatory and securities matters. With over 20 years of experience in business, trademark, intellectual property, banking and securities law, she handles matters involving trademark and copyright prosecution; license, development, distribution, service, sales, outsourcing and management agreements for a large cross-section of products and technologies; intellectual property disputes such as trademark and domain name disputes; intellectual property related employment issues; and intellectual property aspects of acquisitions and mergers. She represents financial institutions with respect to regulatory applications and filings, change in bank control and Bank Holding Company Act issues, and Securities and Exchange Commission and Blue Sky filings and compliance.
Tara serves on the Board of Directors and is the Secretary for Goodwill Industries of the Valley and the Intellectual Property Section of the Virginia State Bar. Additionally, she is a member of the Roanoke Bar Association and Roanoke Blacksburg Technology Council. She has been recognized repeatedly as a Virginia “Super Lawyer” [Rising Star – 2007-2008; 2010-2015; and Top 50: 2012 Women Virginia Super Lawyers] and by “The Best Lawyers in America” [since 2009 to present]. Additionally, she has been named to Virginia Business Magazine’s “Legal Elite” – Intellectual Property [2011-2016].
